[APPLY] Registration Opens for 2026 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE 1)

The National Teaching Council (NTC) has officially announced the registration for the 2026 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE 1). This examination remains a key requirement for graduates who wish to obtain professional teacher licensure in Ghana. Candidates are therefore encouraged to carefully review the guidelines and complete the process within the stipulated period.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the 2026 GTLE 1, applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Possess a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Degree or a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).
  • Candidates with foreign qualifications must present a certificate evaluation report from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to confirm eligibility.
  • Prospective candidates should visit http://indexing.ntc.gov.gh to verify their status before beginning registration.
  • An indexing fee of GH¢50.00 is required. However, re-sit candidates are exempt from the indexing process.

Examination Fees

  • Re-sit of all three papers: GH¢385.00

Candidates are advised to confirm the number of papers they are registering for before making payment to avoid errors.

Payment Procedure

Payment can be made through either of the following methods:

  • At any branch of Prudential Bank Ltd nationwide.
  • Via mobile money using the short code *772*51# across all networks.

  1. Select Teacher Licensure.
  2. Follow the prompts provided on the screen.

Upon successful payment, candidates will receive a confirmation message containing their name, indexing number, and further instructions.
