[APPLY] UCC Opens Applications for 2025/2026 5-Semester Bachelor of Education Programme

The University of Cape Coast (UCC), through its Institute of Education, has officially announced the opening of applications for admission into its 5-Semester Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Programme for the 2025/2026 academic year. The programme is specially designed for diploma holders in education who aspire to further their studies and qualify to teach at the second-cycle (senior high school) level.

Programme Overview

The 5-Semester Programme aims to upgrade the qualifications of diploma holders in education by providing them with deeper subject knowledge and professional teaching skills. The curriculum is structured to equip students to become competent educators capable of handling second-cycle school subjects effectively.

Applicants who gain admission will pursue one of the following Bachelor of Education degree options:

  • B.Ed. (Arts)
  • B.Ed. (Home Economics)
  • B.Ed. (Accounting)
  • B.Ed. (Management)
  • B.Ed. (Information Technology)
  • B.Ed. (Social Sciences)
  • B.Ed. (Social Studies)
  • B.Ed. (Mathematics)
  • B.Ed. (Science)

The programme will be run at selected study centres including Komfo Anokye SHS, Kumasi, Ahwiaa Overseas (Nana Appiah), and Wise Educational Complex, Sunyani.

General and Subject Area Entry Requirements

To qualify for admission, applicants must possess a Diploma in Education and at least six credits in relevant subjects at the SSSCE/WASSCE level. Additionally, each Bachelor of Education programme has specific subject requirements:

For instance, candidates applying for B.Ed. (Science) must have credits in any two of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Elective Mathematics, while B.Ed. (Mathematics) applicants should hold a Diploma in Basic Education with credits in Mathematics-related subjects. Similarly, applicants for B.Ed. (Home Economics) must have credits in Food and Nutrition, Clothing and Textiles, and related science subjects such as Biology or Chemistry.

Those interested in Management, Accounting, and Information Technology programmes must show proficiency in subjects such as Business Management, Economics, and Elective Mathematics.

Application Process and Fees

Prospective students can purchase e-vouchers at a cost of GHC 225.00 from various outlets including Ghana Post Offices, University of Cape Coast Cash Offices (Accra Office), and partner banks such as GCB Bank, ADB, Republic Bank, Consolidated Bank Ghana, Prudential Bank, and Zenith Bank.
