CAGD Announces 2026 Public Sector Salary Payment Dates

The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has released the official salary and wage payment schedule for civil and public servants for the 2026 financial year. The directive, issued under Circular No. T242/25 and dated 23 October 2025, outlines specific paydays for each month to guide employees and financial institutions in planning and disbursement.
According to the notice, the schedule applies to all civil servants, employees of the Ghana Education Service (GES), and other public sector workers whose salaries are processed by the CAGD. January salaries will be paid on the 23rd, while February and March payments are scheduled for the 26th of each month. April salaries will be credited on the 27th, followed by payments on the 26th in May and June.
The second half of the year shows a similar pattern. July and August salaries are expected on the 27th, September on the 25th, and October on the 26th. November salaries will be paid on the 25th, with December payments scheduled earlier on the 21st to accommodate the festive season.
The Department emphasized that banks will begin crediting employees’ accounts on the indicated dates. It also noted that any changes to the schedule will be formally communicated to stakeholders to avoid confusion.
The circular, signed by the Controller and Accountant-General, Kwasi Agyei, has been distributed to all Chief Directors, Regional and District Coordinating Directors, Regional Directors of the CAGD, and all banks. This early release of the 2026 payroll calendar is intended to promote transparency, improve financial planning for workers, and ensure smoother salary administration across the public sector.
