Checkout the New Reforms of 2025 SHS/TVET Placement

The process for Junior High School (JHS) students checking their 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) second-cycle school placement has been updated, according to a source associated with the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS). Students who sat for the 2025 BECE will now need their index number and date of birth to access their Senior High School (SHS) or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) placement results. This change simplifies the process, ensuring that students can efficiently verify their placements without relying on additional access codes, as was previously required.

Initially, the system was designed to allow students to check their placements using their 10-digit BECE index number, the last two digits of the examination year (e.g., 25 for 2025), and a free access code sent via SMS. However, the updated interface has eliminated the need for the access code. Instead, students will input their 10-digit index number, followed by the last two digits of the examination year (e.g., 100000000025 for 2025), along with their date of birth as provided during BECE registration. This modification aims to streamline the process and reduce potential delays caused by issues with receiving SMS codes.

The new interface requires specific details to ensure accurate verification of placements. Students must enter their 10-digit BECE index number, append the last two digits of the examination year, and provide the date of birth used during their 2025 BECE registration. For example, a student with the index number 1000000000 in 2025 would enter 100000000025, followed by their date of birth. This change is intended to make the system more user-friendly and accessible, as students can rely solely on information they already possess.

The Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) is a digital platform developed to match graduating JHS students with Senior High Schools or TVET institutions. The system considers students’ academic performance, their preferred programs, and the availability of vacancies in schools. By automating the placement process, the CSSPS aims to eliminate manual errors and ensure that students are placed in institutions that align with their academic achievements and career aspirations, fostering an efficient and equitable education system.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has emphasized that the 2025 CSSPS process will adhere to strict criteria to guarantee fairness for all students who participated in the national examination. These criteria are designed to prioritize transparency and equity, ensuring that placements reflect students’ performance and choices. By maintaining clear guidelines, the MoE seeks to build trust in the system and provide equal opportunities for all candidates to secure placements in reputable second-cycle institutions.

This updated placement process reflects the Ministry’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve educational administration. By requiring only the index number and date of birth, the CSSPS reduces barriers to accessing placement results, making the system more inclusive. As the 2025 academic year approaches, students and parents are encouraged to ensure they have the correct index number and registration details ready to check placements promptly and prepare for the next phase of their educational journey.
