GES and Telecel to offer teachers cheap data and free airtime

The Ghana Education Service (GES) management has created an SMS bundle offer known as GES 2 MOORCH, as well as reasonable data and air time for GES employees, in partnership with Telecel, the telecommunications firm.

Teachers who subscribe to the package will receive inexpensive call time, well-planned data, and an SMS bundle at no additional cost—the price includes all applicable taxes.

Teachers will also receive increased voice time for both OnNet and OffNet conversations, according to GES, in a social media post seen by Pretertiary.com, in addition to the internet data. Calls made on other networks will utilize the Offnet allocated amount.

To sign up for and take advantage of the 2 Moorch plan, which provides a complete phone, data, and SMS bundle as well as data-only plans with extra allocations for whitelisted sites, GES staff members are requested to give their Telecel number.

Dr Joe Anokye, the Director-General of the Authority in an interview monitored by Pretertiary.com said with the introduction of NGIC wholesale carrier-neutral open access network, data prices will decrease by the end of 2024.

This network, expected to be launched by the last quarter of the year, he said will enable operators like AT, Telecel, and MTN to purchase bulk data without upgrading towers or equipment, leading to increased efficiency and reduced costs.

“Data prices are expected to go down, especially again with the NGIC wholesale career neutral open access, now AT, now Telecel, even MTN, they will just buy bulk, they don’t have to upgrade towers, they don’t have to buy new equipment to provide 4G, another entity is doing that
