GES Introduces Online and Off-Campus Learning for Double-Track SHS

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has taken a proactive step in adapting to the changing educational landscape by introducing an online/off-campus learning and teaching period for students in second-cycle schools. This initiative aims to facilitate a smooth transition from the double-track to single-track system and ensure continuity in education despite the challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic.
According to a press statement by GES Public Relations Officer, Daniel Fenyi, the 2025/2026 academic calendar for Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS) remains unchanged. The management emphasized the importance of adhering to the existing calendar to maintain consistency in academic schedules across the country.
For schools transitioning to the single-track system, GES outlined a structured online/off-campus learning plan for Forms 1, 2, and 3. This approach is designed to support students through self-directed learning, with a focus on projects, assignments, and curriculum resources available on the designated platform curriculumresources.edu.gh.
In addition to self-directed learning, the Ghana Education Service announced that daily lessons will be broadcast live on the Ministry of Education TV (MoE TV), providing students with access to quality educational content. Schools with learning management systems are encouraged to fully utilize these platforms to enhance the online learning experience for students.
It is important to note that the online/off-campus periods should not be seen as breaks or vacations, but rather integral parts of the overall teaching and learning process. GES emphasized the need for active participation and engagement from students, urging school heads, teachers, parents, and guardians to closely monitor and support students during these periods.
In conclusion, the Ghana Education Service has demonstrated its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted education for students in second-cycle schools through innovative online learning solutions. By leveraging technology and providing necessary support, GES is paving the way for a more flexible and resilient education system that can effectively adapt to evolving circumstances.
