GNACOPS Sends Important Message To Private School Teachers

The Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) has issued an important communiqué to all pre-tertiary private schools across the country, providing clarification on the upcoming National Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Day scheduled for 7th November 2025.

In the statement signed by the National Executive Director of GNACOPS, Obenfo Numa Kwasi Gyetuah, the council explained that the National CPD Day announced by the National Teaching Council (NTC) in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES) is strictly for public pre-tertiary teachers, and therefore does not apply to teachers in private institutions.

According to the communiqué, the session planned for public school teachers on that date will focus on Cybersecurity and Data Protection, contributing to their professional license renewal and annual CPD credit requirements. However, GNACOPS emphasized that private school teachers are not required to participate in this particular event.

The statement further outlined four key points for all stakeholders within the private education sector:

  1. The National CPD Day does not apply to private-school teachers.
  2. The scheduled CPD session for private-school teachers will not take place on 7th November 2025.
  3. A separate CPD program specifically designed for private-school teachers is currently being prepared by the NTC and will be announced in due course.
  4. The 7th of November 2025 is not a holiday for private-school teachers.

He reaffirmed GNACOPS’ commitment to working hand-in-hand with the NTC and other educational bodies to ensure that private-school teachers receive equal access to relevant and high-quality professional development programs.
