JUST IN: Monday 22nd September, 2025 is Statutory Public Holiday; Interior Minister Discloses

The Ministry of the Interior has officially declared that Sunday, 21st September 2025, marks Founder’s Day, a Statutory Public Holiday in Ghana. However, due to the fact that this date falls on a Sunday, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has, by Executive Instrument (E.I.), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), as amended, designated Monday, 22nd September 2025, as an Additional Public Holiday. This additional holiday will be observed nationwide.

This decision ensures that the significance of Founder’s Day is duly recognized and celebrated, providing an extended opportunity for citizens to commemorate the occasion. The announcement was signed by Hon. Munataka Mohammed-Mubarak (MP), the Minister for the Interior.

Citizens are encouraged to observe the holiday accordingly, with public and private sectors expected to adjust their schedules to accommodate the additional day off on Monday, 22nd September 2025.
