Ministry of Health Provides Update on Salary Payments and New Recruitment

The Ministry of Health has issued a new update regarding the payment of salaries to newly recruited nurses and the posting of medical officers across the country. According to the statement, more than 6,000 newly recruited nurses have successfully received their salaries, representing the full cohort of 13,500 nurses engaged nationwide. The Ministry assured the public that all remaining administrative issues are being worked on and will be resolved promptly.

In the release, the Ministry commended the newly posted medical officers who have already reported to their assigned duty stations. Officers who have not yet reported were urged to do so by Friday, 12th December 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure fairness and balance in the distribution of health workers.

The Ministry emphasized that the postings are not meant to punish or disadvantage anyone. Instead, they serve as an important strategy to promote equitable deployment of health personnel across the country. Families and relatives of medical officers were also encouraged to support them in settling into their new communities, particularly in rural and underserved areas where their services are most needed.

Reaffirming its commitment to improving healthcare delivery, the Ministry highlighted ongoing collaborations with key stakeholders to provide incentives for officers posted to remote locations. These measures align with the Human Resource Posting Guidelines and are aimed at boosting motivation and retention.

To support this initiative, the Ministry called on Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to offer essential assistance such as accommodation, transport support, and other basic amenities. These incentives, the Ministry noted, are crucial for encouraging medical officers and other health professionals to remain in their designated districts.
