NTC and Katon Release Key Updates Ahead of Phase 2 CPD Day

The National Teaching Council (NTC), in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES), has announced Phase 2 of the National Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Day, with a strong focus on Data Protection Training for teachers across the country.
This phase is designed to strengthen teachers’ understanding of data privacy, digital responsibility, and the safe handling of personal and institutional information in schools. As technology continues to shape teaching and learning, the need for educators to protect sensitive data has become critical.
According to the notice, all teachers are required to participate in the virtual training through Katon Meet, the official training platform approved for the exercise. Teachers can access Katon Meet either via the web platform or by downloading the mobile application from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
The registration process has been simplified into four easy steps to ensure smooth participation. Teachers are expected to sign up on the platform and enter the unique training code provided by their respective District IT Officers. This code is essential for gaining access to the training session and for proper tracking of attendance.
The virtual nature of the training allows teachers from all regions to participate without the need for physical gatherings, making the programme both inclusive and cost-effective. More importantly, participation in this CPD activity contributes to teachers’ professional development points, which are required for license renewal.
Teachers are therefore encouraged to act promptly, complete their registration, and fully participate in the training to stay compliant with NTC requirements and enhance their professional competence in data protection practices.
