Over 10,000 teachers to work in Jamaica under new agreement – Foreign Affairs Minster

The Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that Jamaica will soon receive nurses and teachers from Ghana as part of a new bilateral arrangement between the two countries.
The initiative aims to address workforce gaps in Jamaica’s education and healthcare sectors while strengthening ties between the two nations.
The agreement was finalized during a meeting between Ghana and Jamaica officials on the sidelines of the Organisation of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS) Summit in Brussels.
The talks were led by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Jamaica’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator, Kamina Johnson Smith.
Beyond the labour exchange, Ghana and Jamaica have agreed to begin high-level political consultations to boost cooperation in trade, agribusiness, tourism, education, culture, and sports.
Both governments see the initiative as a practical step toward enhancing their long-standing historical and diplomatic relationship.
