Pay Us or We will Boycott The 2024 General Elections – Teachers

A group of teachers called Coalition of Unpaid Teachers and Arrears-Ghana announced their plan to abstain from the December 7, 2024 presidential and Parliamentary elections.

Their choice was prompted by the government’s inability to cover their monthly salary and arrears associated with the teaching services they render.

In an interview with the secretary, they expressed their disappointed in the way things are not moving well for them concerning their salary looking at the high standard of living in the country.

“We regret to announce that our members will not be participating in the upcoming elections on December 7, 2024. The decision has been made in response to the government’s continued failure to respond to teachers’ plight with regards to members’ salaries, arrears and issuance of staff ID,”

Its very sad after working for several months, the teachers still haven’t received their pay; some have been overdue for nearly a year. Given the nation’s current economic crisis, they assert that the circumstance has caused them and their families to experience severe financial difficulty.
