Teachers to Benefit as GNAT Takes Decisive Welfare Actions in 2026

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) recently concluded its 2026 National Delegates Conference with a series of impactful resolutions that aim to enhance the overall welfare, financial security, and professional development of its members. These resolutions, which garnered unanimous support from delegates representing various regions, underscore the commitment of GNAT towards uplifting the lives of teachers across the nation.

Among the key decisions made at the conference was the adjustment of the Teachers’ Fund contribution. The minimum contribution has been raised from GH¢120 to GH¢150 in order to bolster the sustainability of the fund and ensure it can adequately cater to the evolving needs of members. This move reflects GNAT’s dedication to securing the financial well-being of its teacher base.

To alleviate the financial burden on teachers, the interest rate on Teachers’ Fund loans has been reduced from 16 percent to 14 percent. This reduction is poised to provide teachers with more accessible financial support when needed for personal or professional purposes, showcasing GNAT’s responsiveness to the challenges faced by educators.
