WEAC Releases Provisional Results for 2025 BECE Examinations—New Link to Check
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the provisional results for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for school candidates in 2025. This announcement, made available to stakeholders, provides access to the results of candidates who sat for the examination. The Metropolitan/Municipal/District Directors of Education can obtain these results, which are also accessible online at www.waecgh.org for candidates seeking to view them.
Examination Statistics
A total of 603,328 candidates participated in the 2025 BECE, comprising 297,250 males and 306,078 females. Of these, 20,395 candidates had visual impairment, 239 had hearing impairment, and 161 candidates with other test accommodations were included. The examination was conducted at 2,237 centers across the country, with 2,526 candidates reported absent.
Investigation into Malpractices
Following the completion of investigations into several cases of irregularity detected during the examination, the council has taken decisive action. The 36th Meeting of the Final Awards and Examiners’ Appointment Committee for the BECE, 2025, held on Friday, August 15th, approved the following measures:
- Cancellation of Subject Results for 718 candidates.
- Cancellation of Entire Results for 177 candidates.
- Withholding of Subject Results for 1,240 candidates.
- Withholding of Entire Results for 93 candidates.
Additionally, the results of all candidates from 119 schools have been canceled. The subject results of candidates from 87 schools have been withheld pending further scrutiny. These investigations are scheduled to conclude by September 6, 2025, with outcomes determining whether the results will be canceled or released.
Candidates whose results have been canceled or withheld are advised to visit https://irreg.waecgh.org to check the irregularity and investigations page. This page will display reasons for withholding or canceling the results. For withheld results, candidates will receive further information on the next steps, and school heads and proprietors are encouraged to follow suit.
Accessing Results
Candidates can access their results by logging into the designated portal to check the status of withheld results. This process ensures transparency and allows individuals to stay informed about their examination outcomes.
Caution Against Fraud
The Council has issued a stern warning to stakeholders, cautioning against individuals or groups promising to upgrade results for a fee. WAEC emphasizes that its results are secure and can only be accessed through official channels, urging candidates to remain vigilant against such fraudulent activities.
Conclusion
WAEC expresses its gratitude to stakeholders, particularly the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, security agencies, Heads of Schools, Supervisors, Invigilators, Examiners, and all who supported the successful conduct and release of the results. This collaborative effort underscores the integrity and reliability of the examination process.
Signed,
