We have plans to pay all remaining stipends -Dr. Bawumia to unpaid NABCO Trainees

Thanks to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s assistance, the long-standing problem of unpaid stipends for National Builders Corps (NABCO) participants may soon be resolved.

The beneficiaries have not received money for eight months, and the Vice President has shown a great deal of concern for their situation. Dr. Bawumia answered a query from a local chief on the government’s intentions to settle the unpaid stipends while on a recent visit to the Volta Region. He gave the chief and the recipients the assurance that the government will honour the outstanding stipend payments. Dr. Bawumia said that the Ministry of Finance will be pressured to settle the payments for the stipends that the government still owes.

He clarified that the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected the economy, was the reason for the payment delay, not an intentional one. The impacted beneficiaries, who have been finding it difficult to make ends meet as a result of their stipends not being paid, now have hope thanks to the Vice President’s involvement.

The action is viewed as evidence of the government’s dedication to resolving the issues young people face and guaranteeing their welfare. The recipients, who have been waiting patiently for months, should feel some comfort when the unpaid stipends are paid.

The NABCO programme, which seeks to give young Ghanaians access to skills and employment opportunities, is likely to regain support from the public as a result of the government’s efforts to address this issue.
