[APPLY] Ghana’s 46 Public Colleges of Education for the 2025/2026 Academic Year

With credentials granted by their affiliated public universities, the institutes provide a four-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree with a variety of specializations.

Admission requirements

The general entry requirements vary based on applicants’ academic backgrounds:  

1. WASSCE/SSSCE Applicants

– WASSCE candidates must have credit passes (A1-C6) in six subjects, comprising three core subjects—including English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science or Social Studies—and three relevant elective subjects.  

– SSSCE candidates require at least credit passes (A-D) in six subjects, following the same core and elective subject structure.  

2. GCE Advanced Level Applicants

– Candidates must have passes in at least three subjects (one of which should be Grade D or better) and credit passes in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects, including English, Mathematics, and a Science or Social Science subject.

3. Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Applicants 
   
– TVET applicants must hold a Certificate II qualification in three relevant trade areas or a National Board for Professional and Technicians Examination (NABPTEX) qualification in a related field.  

4. Special Entry Requirements for Persons with Disabilities 

– Special facilities are available for visually impaired applicants at N.J. Ahmadiyya College of Education (Wa), Wesley College of Education (Kumasi), and Presbyterian College of Education (Akropong).  

– Hearing-impaired students can access study facilities at Presbyterian College of Education, Akropong.

Online Application Process  

Applicants must purchase an e-voucher at GH₵350 from the Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) or via mobile money platforms such as MTN Mobile Money, Vodafone Cash, and AirtelTigo Money. The application must be completed online at https://admission.coeportal.edu.gh  

Upon successful submission, applicants must print a copy of the form, attach a passport-sized photograph, and send it by EMS to the principal of their first-choice college. Admission notifications will be sent via SMS.  

Colleges Offering Specialised Programmes  

The 46 public Colleges of Education have designated institutions offering specialized education in various fields:  

1. Technical and Vocational Education & Training (TVET)  

– Colleges such as Mampong Technical College of Education, St. John Bosco’s College of Education, and Ada College of Education provide TVET training.

2. French Language Education 

– Institutions including Mount Mary College of Education (Somanya), Wesley College of Education (Kumasi), and St. John Bosco’s College of Education (Navrongo) offer French alongside other programmes.  

Deadline for Applications  

The application deadline for the 2025/2026 academic year is Sunday, August 31, 2025.
