Akufo Addo has collapsed the self-sufficient BOST and TOR I left for him – Mahama
The presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. John Dramani Mahama has assured that he will work tirelessly to revive the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) and Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) if he is elected by the electorates as president in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
Interacting with personnel from the Tanker drivers Association and Liaison Officers of the Oil Marketing Companies at Tema last Thursday, Mahama expressed huge disappointment in the way the Akufo Addo-led government has supervised the collapse of the two companies which were vibrant and self-sufficient during his tenure of office.
He said because of the government’s mismanagement of TOR, it has stopped performing its core job of refining oil and has now been reduced to a rented storage facility for those who import oil.
“The year before we left government, we lifted crude oil from the Jubilee oil field for TOR to refine and after we left office, they sold the crude, and currently TOR is not functioning again,” he said.
Concerning the operations of BOST, Mahama recalled that when he assumed office, the company was highly in debt but through careful management, his government transformed it to become one of the best state-performing enterprises in Ghana.
