Mother storms classroom to give strong lashes to her son for disrespecting teachers

Following the release of a video that went viral online showing a woman beating her son in front of his peers for allegedly disrespecting instructors, Ghanaians’ opinions have been split quite evenly.

The video’s release has spurred a nationwide discussion about whether the mother’s behavior was appropriate or inappropriate in light of the Ghana Education Service’s (GES) prohibition on physical punishment.

During school hours, the enraged mother in the viral video stormed into her son’s classroom and let loose her rage on him. With a cane in hand, the mother went into the school and began disciplining her kid in front of his peers.

The GES’s restriction on corporal punishment reportedly left the boy’s teachers feeling helpless despite their repeated complaints about his behavior. Some pupils had thus started acting disrespectfully toward their professors. The woman decided that enough was enough after learning about her son’s behavior at school. The mother decided to handle things herself. As the woman flogged the youngster, classmates were seen holding him down in the footage posted on X. As the mother repeatedly struck him with the cane, the students numbered.
