New Passport Application Fee Reduced to GHS350, Effective November 13, 2025

In a major relief for Ghanaians seeking to acquire or renew their passports, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has announced a 30% reduction in passport application fees. Beginning Thursday, November 13, 2025, the new fee for passport applications will officially take effect at GHS350.

The decision comes as part of the government’s broader effort to make essential public services more affordable and accessible to citizens. The reduction follows months of consultations and public calls for a review of the previous fees, which many considered relatively high compared to the average income levels of Ghanaians.

According to the Ministry, this adjustment aims to ease the financial burden on applicants while promoting increased uptake of passports, especially among young people, traders, and professionals who travel for education, business, and tourism purposes. The move is also expected to help streamline the passport application process and encourage more people to use the official online platform rather than rely on middlemen or unofficial agents.

Officials at the Passport Office have assured the public that despite the reduction in fees, the quality and security of Ghanaian passports will not be compromised. They further indicated that the government has invested significantly in upgrading printing technology, improving processing times, and expanding passport application centers across the country to serve the growing demand efficiently.

Citizens are reminded that all applications—whether new or renewal—should be done through the official passport application portal or designated Passport Application Centers (PACs) nationwide. The Ministry also cautioned the public to be wary of fraudulent agents who may attempt to exploit unsuspecting applicants by charging unapproved fees.

Many Ghanaians have welcomed the announcement with excitement, describing it as a timely intervention given the current economic challenges. Social media platforms have been flooded with positive reactions, with users commending the government for listening to the public’s concerns.
