[REMINDER] Shool Heads are required to accept either written or printed lesson notes from teachers – GES

On January 17, 2024, the Ghana Education Service (GES) issued a directive to all Regional Directors of Education to ensure uniformity and clarity in the preparation of lesson notes by teachers. Signed by Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, former Deputy Director-General (Q&A) for the Director-General, the memorandum addresses misunderstandings between school heads and teachers regarding lesson note preparation.
The GES has observed inconsistencies in how lesson notes are managed across schools, particularly in the Basic and Second Cycle levels. To resolve this, the directive mandates that all heads of schools (Basic and Second Cycle) accept both handwritten and electronically prepared lesson notes in printed and email forms. This move aims to streamline the process and accommodate diverse teaching methods while maintaining educational standards.
The directive emphasizes the importance of proper documentation and accessibility, ensuring that lesson notes are uniformly accepted regardless of the format. Regional Directors are tasked with overseeing the implementation to guarantee compliance across all educational institutions.
Copies of the directive have been sent to key stakeholders, including the Chairman of the GES Council, the Director-General, the Deputy Director-General (MS), and the Acting Director of Schools and Instructions, all based in Accra.
This initiative reflects GES’s commitment to enhancing educational quality and fostering better collaboration between administration and teaching staff in Ghana’s educational system.
