A year ago, we witnessed the premiere of “A Knight of the seven kingdoms”, which was just the second episode of the ultimate season of “Game of Thrones”, and was also one of the best episodes of the HBO-directed series. It was this episode that featured almost all major characters in the TV series gathered at Winterfell, drinking wine and indulging in an all-night as they eagerly awaited the forthcoming battle of the White Walkers, which was to take place the following day.
This particular episode brought about quite some few memorable moments, ranging from Brienne of Tarth knighted by Ser Jamie Lannister, Arya Stark losing her virginity to close friend Gendry, Theon Greyjoy who made a triumphant return to Winterfell, Jon Snow who revealed his true bloodline to Daenerys Targaaryen and other various characters also involved in their own monologues about how that night could be their last day in the land of the living.
The episode gathered mostly positive reviews from fans of the series alongside critics because it was the final episode of Game of Thrones most viewers liked. The final four episodes of the series were mostly lambasted by those who loved the show. But regardless of how the series was ‘spoiled’ there’s no denying the fact that the Game of Thrones was actually a fantastic show for most of its showing which was why it had a cult following.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms definitely deserves to be among the top five episodes of the series, here are others:
Blackwater: The final episode of the second season was the series’ first huge battle scene which was actually a big deal that the word ‘battle’ appeared in a photo for its entry to the HBO Go Menu Page.
The Rains of Castamere: The red wedding episode which was in season 3 provided the series’ most shocking moment, as it led to the deaths of numerous major characters in a single massacre.
The winds of winter: Talking of massacres, a key strength of Game of Thrones was the fact that it could always make things up and pay them down along the line and this was perfectly illustrated in the final episode in season 6. Cersei Lannister gained her sweet revenge on her sworn enemies by blowing up the Sept of Baelor when they were all inside. Even if you are not one of her fans, it was definitely satisfying to you. This was also the episode Daenerys took over for Westeros and Jon Snow finally gained the Kingship in the North.
The Door: The heart-wrenching episode of season 6 where we not only saw Hodor die but also witnessed what actually led to his name being Hodor.
